Sterling Gray was born February 18, 1984 in Show Low, Arizona, where he became an instant hit with the nurses in the obstetrics ward with his smooth, crooning cries. The family soon moved to greener pastures (metaphorically speaking) in St. Johns, AZ. After a difficult childhood (it’s rough being Mom’s favorite), Sterling came into his own at Eastern Arizona College, where he distinguished himself as the premier chair setter-upper and taker-downer at the local LDS institute of religion. After graduating with barely better than embarrassing grades, Sterling bounced around between Nauvoo, Illinois and Provo, Utah, where he kissed girls and got religious. In 2006, he became a missionary for his church in the Dominican Republic. He was envied by other missionaries for his great accomplishments in letter writing and receiving, having received a letter 101 weeks out of the 104 that he was a missionary. He came home from the DR well-tanned and sure of what he wanted to do with his life, but a combination of an indoor job and a major heartbreak left him white and aimless.
Now Sterling is spending the summer in Bolivia, which he hopes will give him great cultural experiences and better Spanish. His search for purpose in life and true love continues, as evidenced by the fact that he spends half the day wondering if he should be a journalist or an English professor, and the other half thinking about girls (most recently, one girl, Rebecca). He counts among his influences Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Kenny Mayne, Tim Allen, and Brian Doyle.
Sterling, Thank you so much for doing such a great job of pictures and writing. I feel like I am a part of all y0ur experiences. I need to show Travis your explanation of the camping. He will love to see that kids need constant reminders to help set up camp. You are wearing hats, jackets and drinking hot chocolate. We are swimming in the morning and staying in the rest of the day. It is hot, hot, hot here! We love you!
